On “Disruption”

More and more these days, all I hear is talk about being “disruptive”.

I think it’s time we give this poor word a break.

Or, how about, retire it altogether?

Instead of boasting about how earth shattering-ly “disruptive” your recycled concept is, shut up, and go make something that won’t be forgotten after the mindless scrolling of a thumb.

Propose an idea that not everyone will be pleased with.

Propose an idea that gets beneath the skin of the person who sees it

Propose an idea that’s honest,

and vulnerable,

and real.

... I dare you.
